Dr. Raymond Kahn, M.D., a respected physician, devoted family man, and cherished member of the Pennsylvania community, passed away at the age of 98. Originally from Natrona Heights and most recently a resident of Longwood at Oakmont, Dr. Kahn leaves behind a remarkable legacy of compassion, service, humor, and dedication that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
For decades, Dr. Kahn devoted his life to the practice of medicine, caring for countless patients through his longtime medical practice in Tarentum. His healing hands, professional expertise, and genuine concern for others earned him the trust and admiration of generations of families. To many, he was more than a physician—he was a source of reassurance, wisdom, and comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments.
Dr. Kahn was the beloved husband of the late Sandra Kahn, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage built on love, partnership, and devotion. Together they created a family that became the center of his life and one of his greatest sources of pride. He is survived by his children, David Kahn, Leslie (Jay) Kim, John “J.R.” (Cecilia) Kahn, Randy (Cheryl) Kahn, Jason (Mary) Kahn, and Ann (Lee) Hutchinson, as well as his cherished grandchildren Justin (Erika) Kim, Erica Kim, Judy Kahn, Ray Kahn, Sandra G. Kahn, Margaret Kahn, Aidan Hutchinson, Mae Rose Hutchinson, and Luke Hutchinson. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Brooks Kim. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph (Dee) Kahn.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Kahn was known for his vibrant personality and unforgettable sense of humor. Family and friends fondly recall his unique ability to transform ordinary stories into memorable experiences. Whether telling a joke or sharing a personal anecdote, he had a gift for adding his own creative flair, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His playful use of language and storytelling talent became one of the many qualities that endeared him to family and friends throughout the years.
A longtime congregant of Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church, Dr. Kahn carried a deep sense of community and faith throughout his life. He was also a passionate lover of classical music and opera, frequently attending performances by the Pittsburgh Symphony and Pittsburgh Opera. His appreciation for culture, combined with his love of good food and meaningful conversation, made gatherings with him both memorable and enriching.
The passing of Dr. Raymond Kahn leaves a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, former patients, and community members. Yet his legacy continues through the countless lives he touched with kindness, generosity, wisdom, and compassion. He will be remembered not only for his distinguished medical career but also for the warmth, humor, and humanity he brought into the world.
