Born on October 29, 1993, in Audubon, Iowa, Karmen was the beloved daughter of Troy and DeEtte Grabill. From an early age, she displayed an adventurous spirit, a strong work ethic, and a natural ability to excel at whatever she set her mind to. Whether helping on the farm, participating in 4-H, Saddle Club, FFA, or playing tenor saxophone in the school band, Karmen approached life with enthusiasm and confidence.
After graduating from IKM-Manning High School in 2012, she pursued her passion for animals by attending Iowa Western Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree as a Veterinary Technician. Her dedication and willingness to tackle any challenge later led her to work with Petersen Harvesting, where she became known for her remarkable skill, determination, and ability to operate equipment and travel across the country during harvest seasons.
Beyond her accomplishments, Karmen will be remembered most for the love she shared with those closest to her. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Kylie and Whitney, who were the center of her world. Her family was her greatest source of pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with her fiancé, Tyson Petersen, their girls, and her loved ones. Friends and relatives often spoke of her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and the way she could brighten any room simply by walking into it.
Karmen also shared a special bond with her siblings, particularly her sister Eliza, and cherished the many memories created alongside her brothers and extended family. Her loyal dog Yaeger was rarely far from her side, reflecting the deep love and loyalty that defined her relationships throughout life.
